CONSTITUTIONAL CODE 1: LOVE FOR ANIMALS

There are five animals who reside on Sandterra territory, including two dogs and three cats. In the past, The Royal Family has owned guinea pigs, a rabbit, turtles, fish, frogs, and even hermit crabs.

Our furry friends make up a huge part of our identity. For this reason, Sandterra is officially classified as a "SAFE HAVEN" for all animals and strongly condemns animal abuse.

CONSTITUTIONAL CODE 2: RECYCLING

We must do our part to help save this planet, even if it is something small but mighty like recycling. Some plastic can take up to 500 years to decompose. This is unacceptable.

Sandterra strongly advocates for recycling. This includes all plastic (no. 1 and no. 2), cardboard, and heavy chunks of paper such as old phonebooks or stacks of magazines.

CONSTITUTIONAL CODE 3: RIGHT TO POSSESS/BEAR ARMS

In the United States, guns are being villainized and associated with violence. Consequently, many politicians have attempted to ban firearms or implement gun restrictions. Firearms do not kill people; PEOPLE kill people! With proper gun safety education, firearm incidents and accidents are minimized.

In Sandterra, we believe that firearms and other weapons are essential to protection/defense of self and family.

CONSTITUTIONAL CODE 4: GAY EQUALITY

Gay people are born that way; It is not a choice. Many states in the U.S. have implemented dangerous legislation which dehumanize the gay community and threaten the livelihood of their gay residents. In Sandterra, we believe that every person should have the right to be their true, authentic self, without having to hide in the closet or live a lie.

This code of the constitution proclaims that Sandterra is a "SAFE HAVEN" for all gay people and prohibits discrimination, abuse, and hateful behavior towards the gay community. This code also recognizes and condones gay marriage.

CONSTITUTIONAL CODE 5: WE STAND WITH WORKERS AND UNIONS (ANTI-CORPORATE GREED)

Giant corporations and greedy CEOs are often the cause of great suffering. These corporations pay their workers so little that they are forced to live paycheck-to-paycheck while the CEOs/executives hoard all the wealth. This is unethical. Sandterra stands against unethical corporate practices. Sandterra formally censures all billionaires. The Royal Family of Sandterra is a UNION STRONG family! We advocate for unions because they stand up for the rights of the working class. Sandterra encourages union membership. The workers are the ones who work tirelessly to keep companies running day and night, not the CEOs! We will always be on the side of the workers; Workers deserve their fair share!

CONSTITUTIONAL CODE 6: MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS!

Rising rates of mental health issues continue to affect people all over the globe. Many nations fail to recognize the importance of mental health. The Royal Family suffers from various mental health challenges such as depression, PTSD, OCD, anxiety, and more. This code states that Sandterra understands and recognizes the importance of mental health.

CONSTITUTIONAL CODE 7: PEACE

Sandterra stands firmly against violence and war of all forms. We do not believe in imperialist policies. Genocide is never okay. Sandterra is a 100% peaceful micronation.

CONSTITUTIONAL CODE 8: SCIENCE-BASED

Some countries around the world base their laws on religion. Sandterra aims to be science-based. We trust scientific findings and will use scientific data to guide our decision-making. Our principles will be formulated based on science rather than spirituality. While we have no issue with people who practice religion, we do not believe that it should be the guiding factor in creating governmental legislation.

CONSTITUTIONAL CODE 9: FEMINISM

Many women lead with compassion and great intelligence and deserve to be respected with equal pay and fair treatment. Sandterra stands with women and values women in leadership roles. We support any and all movements that pertain to feminism.

CONSTITUTIONAL CODE 10: WE VALUE EDUCATION & LITERACY

Sandterra believes that education is a very important factor when it comes to bettering society and changing the world. With a great education, one can make quite momentous accomplishments. We believe education should be free for all (up to a Bachelor degree) and that teachers and professors should be paid a plentiful salary.

By the time students are in third grade, their reading levels correlate to consequential life outcomes, such as high school graduation rates and incarceration. Adult illiteracy is rampant throughout the world. People do not have the skills to read the menu board at a restaurant, read road signs while driving, or read the departure and arrival marquees at the airport. This is a serious issue. Literacy should be prioritized everywhere, and in Sandterra we place so much importance on literacy that we decided it should be permanently enshrined in our constitution.
